A useful counterfactual: Had things gone differently in 2019, and Jeremy Corbyn was the Prime Minister, do you think that this - distant, hazy, lightly surreal - would be the tone struck by news coverage on the day it was announced that 100,000 people had died of COVID?

crazy how we're technologically the closest we have ever been to a utopian society, but we just can't envision it like we used to there's no Star Trek or Jetsons, just Black Mirror/dystopian stuff, and a general longing for the past the biggest obstacle to a utopia is political

I'm a busy man, and I don't have the time or inclination to water my plants. instead, I stand on them and piss myself, and let trickle down economics take effect.

it's always white colleagues deviating from the yellow default skin color. I know it's not probably not politically motivated, but still, real awkward. even more so for my POC colleagues.

If you thought the £200 fines for demonstrators was bad... try 10 year prison sentences. Because the #PolicingBill would create an offence of putting someone at risk of annoyance or *disease*. A vote for the Bill is a vote to put protest rights under lockdown again, and again.

Department for Education Bedford Free School I started my career as a child clinical psychologist in 1980. Since then, I've never felt such depths of despair as now at the discrepancy between government policy & what humanity & evidence teach us. To thrive & learn, children need good breakfasts, play, friends, kindness...

I think this period of online history will be a write off. whatever utopian new age we find ourselves in (if the world doesn't just end), all the post 2010 internet content will be contained, buried somewhere in a desert, and treated like the hazardous waste material that it is.
