#Gymnasticsabuse is often disguised as a strategy for success. The exploitation of gymnasts is justified by an idea that within the world of gymnastics, there's no other way.

'Can't handle the way your coach treats you? You're not made for the sport.'

This weekend of domestic gymnastics with BG Comms going into overdrive with glossy shiny happy images in order to convince us that all is well - and all will be well - feels a lot like Nero fiddling whilst Rome burns.

British Gymnastics …So honour their legacy by clearing your backlog of child abuse complaints and giving justice to the athletes these two brave ladies stuck their necks out for, instead of basking in their hard fought glory.

In so many of these sport processes, they apply legal standards to non-legal situations, which is usually designed to throw up barriers to victim-survivors seeking accountability. Unacceptable and utterly unnecessary.

Another day, another case falls, another brave soul hurt. And the coach most likely continues. Another failure from British Gymnastics.

So months ago G4C asked for the complaints process to be paused to allow for it to be reset; it limped on…and here we are! Is anyone at this godforsaken NGB going to get a grip?

Let’s get this reboot sorted and quickly, before even more damage is done. How can a complaints process be considered ‘not fit for purpose’ by the very people it was meant to serve, yet still stumble on?

Yeah, the devil is really in the details here. “Weighing must always be a choice”?

There’s no choice when your coach is pressuring you to do something. And they will.

How about we just stop weighing child athletes, full stop? There’s absolutely no basis for it.
