Well done Alice Drake (until recently MED UEA student) for presenting Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals centre’s data EAPS Congress - showing very worrying trend of increasing rates of parents decliningi #VitaminK prophylaxis for their newborns since Covid.

This trend is very worrying: increased refusal rates will inevitably translate to increased rates of vitamin K deficiency bleeding. ⚠️We’ll now see more infants permanently damaged or else dying of this rare but preventable disorder.⚠️

Current UK practice of #DeliveryRoomCuddle Survey of 131 UK NICUs caring for <32 week GA babies showed ~46% units now routinely practising DRC => amazing uptake in recent years. EAPS Congress Huge congrats Eileen Foster, persevering to 100% complete survey - brilliant work!
