Two of the most valuable resources out there on scientific writing: - @nature's guideline on abstract structure - Whitesides' 3-pager on outlining a research paper intra.ece.ucr.edu/~rlake/Whitesi… No need for entire books on how to write; these two short docs are amazingly instructive.

The best gift for the holidays you can give yourself as a researcher is a publication. Our postdoc Yuanyue Le Yuanyue Li has in cooperation with Paolo Bonini a Nature Methods paper. We are very proud and happy for Yuanyue.🍾💐👏🍾 #metabolomics nature.com/articles/s4159…

A good read and a nice piece of software. We've been able to integrate it directly into our GNPS Similarity Hub, so if your MS/MS are public, give it a try! gnps-similarity.ucsd.edu

A paper from MetabolomicsUCDavis proposes the use of spectral entropy as a measure of similarity for small molecule mass spectra, and the use of a one-bond-difference approach for improving false discovery rates. #Metabolomics Yuanyue Li nature.com/articles/s4159…

Hot out of the press: we have today two NATURE papers. We are very thrilled Nature Metabolism is our paper "Human metabolome variation along the upper intestinal tract". nature.com/articles/s4225…. #exposome #metabolomics Check the next tweet for the second paper.

A fantastic invention by Dari Shalon and leading experts in #microbiome research, #proteomics and #metabolomics produced a great inside of "Profiling the human intestinal environment under physiological conditions" published in nature today. nature.com/articles/s4158… Metabolomics Info

We have developed a method called Flash entropy search for calculating MS/MS entropy similarity at lightning speed. It can perform an open search on ~1 billion spectra in just 2 seconds! It also support neutral loss search and hybrid search. MetabolomicsUCDavis doi.org/10.1038/s41592…

Flash entropy is a fast mass spectral similarity search method for metabolomics data that speeds open search, hybrid search and neutral loss search up to 10,000 fold. MetabolomicsUCDavis Yuanyue Li nature.com/articles/s4159…

Exciting final day at the Am Soc for Mass Spec Asilomar Conf on Computational Mass Spec meeting. Chris Anderton (Chris Anderton) is wrapping up the early morning session now. We took time on Saturday morning to take a group photo. The future is bright for Computational #TeamMassSpec
