The Queen dying at home, surrounded by loved ones at the age of nearly 97 is as good as one can get at the end of life. We should all hope for such peace and comfort at the end.

The intensive care unit is a terrifying, very clinical environment for most. Last week a patient said seeing me made her “feel normal again”. Very grateful to work in a hospital where #humanisingICU is being taken seriously and #animalassistedtherapy is a big part of it 🫶🏻

It's funny isn't it. The cries of how public sector workers can not strike because we can't cope as a nation without them. So the answer, rather than pay them their worth. Is to vilify them and ban then from striking. We recognise their worth up to the point of providing it

That Matt Hancock, who should be doing his job as an MP, may win I’m A Celebrity after his appalling handling of the pandemic & shameful sacking for breaking his own lockdown rules, is a damning indictment of the celebrification of politics & the British public’s amnesia.

A difficult story to read ⤵️ Intensive Care is an incredibly rewarding but sometimes gruelling specialty even in ‘normal’ times. The psychological impact of the pandemic on health care professionals must not be underestimated Intensive Care Society 💙 Steve Barclay thetimes.co.uk/article/82cd71…

I have heard tell: 1. Hospital trusts will pay nursing/AHP/medical agencies higher rates to fill unfilled shifts than they are prepared to pay their own staff to take them on 2. Would rather leave shifts unfilled than pay enhanced rates to staff on own payroll Fair comment?

You couldn’t make it up. N. Ireland has by far the longest waiting lists in the UK. Currently 2,500+ nursing vacancies. Nurses are leaving in their droves. We are spending a fortune on agency staff. Dept decides to CUT 300 nurse training places. Counter intuitive madness.
