So are you going to look after my daughter while I work more hours Therese? Because any money I make from those extra hours is cancelled out by the extra £78 a week I’d need for one more day of nursery @PregnantScrewed independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

“This isn’t just a parenting issue, this is an issue for the whole of society - we are haemorrhaging talented, skilled women from our workforce because of our dysfunctional childcare system". Exactly this! Thanks @PregnantScrewed.

The budget is in a weeks time - we haven’t even heard this government utter the word childcare let alone invest in it. That has to change in a weeks time for the sake of our economy and our families spending more on nurseries than they do rent or mortgages! @PregnantScrewed

Still feeling deflated about yesterdays #childcare announcement. We need help now, not in 2024/25. I can’t help but think this is a PR exercise for the government with a timeline that means they won’t have to deliver. They could help faster if they wanted to. @PregnantScrewed

In today's The Times and The Sunday Times, how the childcare crisis is costing women their careers and letting families down, and why last week's budget won't help: thetimes.co.uk/article/childc…

Childcare prices should never be a factor stopping people from starting a family. Unaffordable childcare costs - especially while our childcare providers are underpaid - is unacceptable. Government must do more to help. @PregnantScrewed

I never planned to use formula feed, but had no choice. Baby needed to eat and I couldn’t give her what she needed. The cost of formula is extortionate and regulations make you feel you’re doing something wrong if you choose to, or have to, formula feed. Good one Iceland Foods ❄️

Depressing milestone just reached - Just surpassed the £10k marker in total payments for nursery in just 13 months…for three days a week 😭😭 @PregnantScrewed

Years ago I met Yvette Fielding & Dr. Karl Beattie at a Northern Ballet show but as I was working I couldn’t speak to them for long. A long time Most Haunted fan, and having just finished Scream Queen, I’m gutted about this! What I wouldn’t give to have a good old chat over a gin! 👻

Erm…aren’t Munchies supposed to have biscuit in Nestlé ? Only one in five of my football viewing share bag munchies contain biscuit 😭 Let’s hope this is the only disappointment of the evening! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Received notification from my nursery that they’re going to charge £25 extra per day to cover the short fall since the expansion of the 15 free hours for 2 year olds, negating any saving we received after qualifying for the free hours. Please make it make sense! @PregnantScrewed

Lauren Hansell (@laureneshansell) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Genuine question: Why are childcare free hours only applicable to term time? Why not year round? I know you can spread them across the year but then it’s not 15/30 free hours.

maternity pay is crap, childcare costs are crippling, childbirth is hellish and pre/post natal care is on its knees, it costs a million pounds to rent a 1 bed shed, butter is a fiver and it’s exhausting just being alive
