Fantastic interview in todayâs Belfast Telegraph with Boyd Sleator, Laura Lacole, and Tim Mc Garry about the growth of Northern Ireland Humanists and the impact of humanism in Northern Ireland â€ïž belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life/features/âŠ
Amanda Ferguson Belfast Telegraph Northern Ireland Humanists Boyd Sleator Laura Lacole Tim Mc Garry Great piece Amanda. There is a growing number of people in NI who have found that they donât need religion to live a good and fulfilling life. And you still get Sundays off ! ;)
@Linmclaughlin3 Amanda Ferguson Belfast Telegraph Northern Ireland Humanists Laura Lacole Tim Mc Garry Yeah, we understand. Humanist defines my philosophical world view. It also allows for some sort of collective voice when it comes to challenging religious privilege. Iâm not a fan of boxes either, but the free thinking part of humanism allows for diversity and individuality.
Humanism isnât an organisation. Itâs not some organised belief system either. There are humanist organisations of course, such as Northern Ireland Humanists & Humanists UK who do valuable work campaigning and lobbying on the behalf of the non religious. Itâs important to see the difference.
âItâs not the same place it used to be. The generation beneath me is even more open minded and non-religious. Even openly discussing this is significant. Northern Ireland really is becoming quite progressiveâ Laura Lacole Northern Ireland Humanists belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life/features/âŠ

Excellent feature with Northern Ireland Humanists patrons Laura Lacole & Tim Mc Garry, & our NI Co-ordinator Boyd Sleator! Since its creation in 2016, NI has gone from strength to strength, quickly establishing itself as one of NI leading human rights organisations. m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/life/features/âŠ
'Humanism explains how I live my life. I donât subscribe to a god. I live by the ethos of treating people well, a fair society, critical thinking, rational thought and kindness.' I'm absolutely holding back tears of pure emotion..... Pride, joy, shock, and utter appreciation to be mentioned by President Donald J. Trump in his speech this evening in Ballina. I'm absolutely speechless. Thank you so sincerely Mr. President.
Lovely evening lastnight at Metropolitan Arts Centre for the Women in Media Belfast CIC social. Great to hear from young talented journalists that will no doubt go far. Well done Amanda Ferguson Petermcv (he/him) @IRLPatricia and all involved. Jawbox Gin McConnellâs Irish Whisky
At Northern Ireland Humanists event on assisted dying. A very important issue that I would encourage you to give thought to, if you havenât already. If you were to become terminally ill and were suffering, would you not want the choice? We should all have the choice.
So cool to be invited to the U.S Embassy in London to celebrate World Humanist Day! A very inspiring evening hearing from US ChargĂ© dâAffaires Matthew Palmer, Lord Wajid Khan Polly Toynbee & Andrew Copson on the positive influence Humanism has had on the world. U.S. Embassy London
