Did you know that since 1985 our Costume & Textiles team have kept a photographic record of street style in Norwich? This week we burrowed into the archive and dug out these gems. These shots date from 1992-3 but the outfits wouldn't look out of place in Norwich today!

Classic case of cold feet. This is how NOT to do public art commissioning. 1) invite lots of artists to develop designs unpaid 2) scrap the entire process, and the principles of a publicly funded campaign to honour a suffragette. Jaw dropping.

Thanks Clare College for inviting us to see ‘Hommage’ a new sculpture by Helaine Blumenfeld, created to mark 50-yrs of co-education at Clare. My colleague Frieda Midgley said the form of the sculpture reminded her of a ginkgo leaf - I then saw beautiful yellow ones on the way home

A new display dedicated to the work of Annie Swynnerton is now open at Tate Britain, displaying for the first time all seven Tate works by this remarkable artist together with some wonderful loans. Come and see it!

Been laid up with the flu for 4 days & feeling anxious & sorry for myself about all the Christmas fun I’d been missing out on… But finally feeling bit better this eve, have a good book, pitter-patter of rain on window. Grateful to be resting warm & cosy at home 🤧🛌📖

Very delighted to showcase this work, by Karin Jonzen, for today's Art UK #OnlineArtExchange - it hangs in the chapel of Selwyn College and was the subject of a talk last week by Selwyn and Newnham College curator Laura Dennis - bronze, 1956 #religiousart

It’s my last day Selwyn College today and never has the College motto felt more apt 🤣 I’m staying on in my role Newnham College so I’ll still be popping over to see my friends in the Library & Archives (and for a swift half in the Selwyn bar🍺)

Tennis dress designed by students Newnham College (1880s) for a competition held around the same time as the first Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles. Tennis provided a unique opportunity for male & female students to socialise & invites to a ‘tennis party without tennis’ were popular.
