Today, I sent a letter to the Journal News and parent company Gannett urging them to bargain in good faith and respect their workers. Workers' rights are protected by the National Labor Relations Act, and employers must fulfill their duty to bargain in accordance with the law.

Last night NewsGuild-CWA Executive Council unanimously voted to sanction a strike at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. ⚡️👁️✊

It’s an exciting day for journalists at the D&C. Yesterday we voted unanimously to strike starting Saturday unless Gannett agrees to a fair contract by then.

This much is for certain: whether it’s this week, next week or some time after that, we’re going to get a fair contract.

With 96% of the unit voting, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle & Canandaigua Daily Messenger journalists Newspaper Guild of Rochester unanimously authorize a STRIKE over Gannett’s unfair labor practices if a contract isn't agreed on by EOD Friday.
