So... my colleague's partner is thinking about applying to CCSD. They have a PhD. They met w. HR, was told they would start at Step 1, Column 1; wouldn't be placed under the PhD column. What was the point of the whole thing? 🤔🤦🏽‍♀️. Some Clark County Education Association comment would be nice.

1% of #Latinas in the 🇺🇲 have attained doctoral degrees. I've been serving as an educator for a decade, creating spaces for my community to become truly multilingual. I will continue on this path, opening doors so my students [my forever guerreras] can change that 1%. 🥹

Now w. a PhD, I will move a column on the scale due to CUs, but won't be placed under the PhD column BECAUSE I'm not a new hire CCSD. I'm fluent in 4 languages, licensed in 5 high-need fields. I'm living proof (not alone!) that retention is NOT a priority. 🙄
