In case you were wondering how long we’ve known that mobility in cities is fundamentally a space problem, this was from Wichita Falls, Texas in 1927. The streetcar was electric. And they would need more cars today because of fewer average people in each car. HT Peter Norton

Minister Devin Dreeshen asks: What's the plan to make sure the city can increase road capacity for vehicles? In a confined space like downtown #yyc, the answer's either bulldoze buildings or remove sidewalks. That's why creating other options like trains & bike lanes is important

DYK that despite the population of #yyc growing by over 400000 people between 2015 & 2023, downtown traffic volume has actually gone done? It's obvious the United Conservative Party of Alberta doesn't know that but less traffic is what investing in alternatives like #yycbike lanes & transit is all about

Irony is officially dead in Alberta. Instead of the United Conservative Party of Alberta working to solve the problems they're in charge of, they're spending time & energy policing local decisions like bike lanes & punishing cities that step up to solve the problems the UCP won't calgaryherald.com/opinion/column…
