I have to admit, I am less than thrilled at the prospect of the Police Commissioner and Metro Mayor election results.

I prefer the old police committee structure to this overpaid and underwhelming commissioner post.

I wish the independent Ian Smith and Green candidate well.

Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner turnout 23.8%.

Liverpool City Region Mayoral election turnout 23.7%.

This is the public’s verdict on a Mayoral post with little to show for its existence and a fatuous commissioner's job which would be done better by a police committee.

People want hope and they want transformative politics.

Labour offer more of the same.
