It is a sad day for the #deaf #LGBTQIA+ community. World Federation of the Deaf members voting to host their next conference in the UAE. LGBTQIA+ topics won’t be allowed.
The Irish Deaf Society is deeply concerned with UAE picked to host the World Federation of the Deaf Congress 2027, UAE have said #LGBTQ topics will not be allowed for discussion at the congress. IDS does not accept this and will be writing to WFD. IDS are for ALL human rights. #allhumanrights
We are saddened to learn that there will be no place for Black Deaf women and Black Deaf LGBTQI+ to discuss their array of topics and awareness at next WFD Congress at UAE in 2027. It fails to meet to WFD's equality principles on Deaf Human's Rights! World Federation of the Deaf please reconsider
Amazed how quickly this page has appeared on Insta to protest against the next World Congress of World Federation of the Deaf being held in the UAE in 2027.
ASLI’s position statement is as thus: World Federation of the Deaf British Deaf Association
