2 years ago, we wrote to the government demanding action on VAWG. This week, it's been declared a national emergency, with 37% increase in offences in just 5 years. Women and girls have been failed. It's time for radical change. #VAWGcrisis #Failings shorturl.at/nQiRQ

Why are the murders of these young girls not being reported as VAWG? The murder of women and girls, by men, is common place and yet what happened in Southport is being reported as isolated, far from it but until we call it what it is (male VAWG) how can we prevent it?

In the wake of the Southport attack, our city has suffered from violence and hatred. In order to prevent future tragedies, we must call it what it is, male violence against women & girls. Bebe King, Alice Dasilva Aguiar and Elsie Dot Stancombe - we'll never forget their names.

How many women and girls need to be killed by men before it is looked at as a national priority in the UK? Not a day goes by without a woman or girl being murdered or there is an attempt to murder. We need action NOW
