A fire at the old Mission Inn caught fire again Tuesday. The first fire was last Wednesday. Mission IAFF L4768 Mission Fire Rescue Service say smoke and flames were visible while they were en route. First fire most likely sparked by candles. This fire is still being investigated. CTV News Vancouver

Mission Fire Rescue personnel participated in a two day course this weekend practicing different types of rescue’s dealing with bariatric patients. Thank you RescueCanada for helping our Firefighters improve their skills and preparing us for these rescues.

Mission Fire has a new medic truck response model that will allow firefighters to respond to medical emergencies as well as any calls the Engine may be attending. November was another extremely busy month for Mission Fire Rescue Service, responding to 349 calls in total. Some of these calls included 126 fire/rescue calls as well as 60 overdoses.

Mission Fire Rescue has already logged 4,093 calls this year, exceeding last year's total of 3,922. If current trends continue, we are on track to double the 2,118 calls logged in 2020. January is Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer is the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths, with fire fighters in the United States and Canada developing job-related cancers at a rate higher than ever. We all know someone diagnosed with occupational cancer.

December proved to be an exceptionally busy month for Mission Fire Rescue Service, responding to a total of 454 calls. Thats an average of 14 calls per day. Notably, 92 overdoses and 33 motor vehicle accidents contributed significantly to this substantial volume.
