She toils, as do I

Now through December 🗓️
I care for my newborn son 👶🏼
And panic sets in 😰

Never have I had ⏳
Such abundant time, yet I
Accomplish little ⌛️

Day 2: November 30th

Feed, Play, Chill, & Sleep 💤
The ceaseless cycle repeats
With structured chaos

As my thoughts descend😵‍💫
Into madness, his smiles
Warm my weary heart❤️

Soon thereafter flows
A tide from his tiny lips.🤮
One more onesie soiled

Day 3: December 1st

I witness my son 👶🏼
Defecate in front of me 💩
As he squirms, unfazed.

Golden, liquid poo 🤢
Adorns the changing table
As I watch in shock😳

I hasten to cleanse 🧼
In horror I plead for aid 🙏
And God replies: No. 👎

Day 4: Dec 4

“Sleep when baby sleeps”😴
Is quaint but absurd council
One gives new parents

Shall I then prepare👨‍🍳
To feast when the babe doth feasts?🍖
Or bathe when babe bathes?🚿

A moot point as he
Forsakes slumber’s sweet embrace
And woefully weeps😭

Echo through the day🎤

“Two Oruguitas”,🐛
Dirty Heads’ “Crow Bar Hotel”🐦‍⬛
Are babe’s lullabies🎶

Bardic efforts strive👨‍🎤
To entice Theo to sleep.💤
This dad’s sacred charge🫡
