It’s been a long time coming -thrilled to see #mpox vaccines donated by EU HERA arrive in the #DRC, with plans to start administering them this weekend!

We can’t effectively contain #mpox (or any disease) without accessible, high-quality diagnostics. Grateful to FIND for spearheading efforts to support developers and manufacturers in bringing these vital tools to resource-limited settings

Great to see #mpox #vaccines finally reach #Africa and the #DRC. But with mpox around for so long, it’s concerning that it took a worsening outbreak and public health emergencies from World Health Organization (WHO) and Africa CDC Africa to get these tools there. We need to act to improve access to life

“This isn’t the day to talk about safety or policy.” If not on the day a minor walks into school with a semi-automatic weapon, killing students and teachers, then when? After it’s forgotten? Yes, we need thoughts and prayers, but we also need action to #EndGunViolenceNOW.

Let me get this straight: A school shooter in #Georgia was investigated for making threats online. Months later, his father buys him a semi-automatic weapon. School starts, and the kid goes on a shooting spree, killing and injuring many. Now, we are send thoughts and prayers.

🆕 article in MMWR on #mpox clade II contact tracing linked to air travel: ✅113 infectious travelers on 221 flights ✅Outcome data for 1,048 of 1,538 contacts 👉No mpox transmission via US flight exposure This is good news! Yes, we need information for clade I since

I completely disagree—school shootings and a 14-year-old with a semi-automatic rifle should NEVER be accepted as a “fact of life.” This isn’t an issue in other countries. The real problem is politicians who think it is and refuse to act to make our country safer #GunControlNow

This is deeply concerning and exactly why many of us have been urging for months to ramp up testing and surveillance for #H5N1 #BirdFlu Key info needed: - Potential exposures - Clinical symptoms & treatment - Status of contacts - Signs of virus evolution As I’ve said before,

Statement from Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services on the first human case of #AvianInfluenza detected in the state, with the source of infection still unclear: - Identified through DHSS' ongoing flu surveillance - Specimen received August 22 - Adult patient, with underlying medical conditions

For those asking, the #AvianInfluenza case in #Missouri is more alarming than previous ones due to the lack of a (reported) epidemiological link and no confirmed infected dairy herds in the state. This leaves us uncertain about the transmission route.

Agreed, a thorough investigation and genomic sequencing are crucial to understand how this #avianinfluenza infection occurred. We must: - Investigate contacts for asymptomatic and unrecognized symptomatic spread - Examine food sources (dairy and undercooked meat) - Assess
