Most kids don’t respond positively to adults who... ...yell at them. ...are mean to them. ...ignore them. ...don’t believe in them. ...don’t believe in second chances... As an adult, how would you respond to another adult who treated you this way? #KidsDeserveIt

Life Cycle of a 🎃. Combining shared reading with ebook (whole class) with guided reading paper 📖s. Ss have a place to sketch the life cycle of 🎃. They will then use @Flipgrid to give a verbal description of life cycle. My ELL Ss have made amazing gains due to #FlipgridFever

"Conventions and grammar activate meaning in the writing and reading processes, linking effect and purpose for writers and readers. The conventions aren't separate. They are, in fact, the meaning-making element, binding reading and writing with meaning." ~Jeff @writeguyjeff

If you want to succeed with a difficult kid…you have to separate the attitude from the student. You don’t lower your standards, but you understand that there is always something motivating the behavior. Understanding leads to empathy… and empathy makes a relationship possible.
