Happy to share our TOGA manuscript, now out in Science. Project started 6 years ago, we and others already used TOGA in numerous projects. TOGA integrates gene annotation and orthology inference, and scales to hundreds of genomes. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

For 100s of years, sponges were assumed to have split first. In 2008 a transcriptome-based study led by Casey Dunn suggested ctenophores were sister to other Metazoa. The debate has bounced back and forth, ever since, even with more genomes sequenced.
