The intersection of Emory Road and Tazewell Pike has long been a heavily trafficked area for the Gibbs’ community – just not foot traffic. The Knox County EPW Department changed that recently, completing a sidewalk project at Harbison’s Crossing.

A dangerous intersection on Maynardville Pike near Halls High School is now a lot safer for drivers and pedestrians. The folks at Knox County EPW are wrapping up a project that adds new traffic lights, crosswalks, and extended sidewalks at the busy Ledgerwood Road intersection.

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs was in West Knoxville today, to help Knox County Parks & Rec and Knox County EPW cut the ribbon on the new NorthShore Greenway Boardwalk. The completion of the boardwalk is phase 3 of the overall Northshore Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project.

Knox County Engineering and Public Works received $1.5 million from TDOT as part of the Transportation Alternatives Program Grant. The funding from this grant will go towards the construction of the Powell Greenway and Pedestrian Bridge. The greenway will connect the sidewalks

Residents must call Knox County EPW at 865-215-5800 by no later 4:30 p.m., today, to report the need for storm-related brush pickup. Calls received after the deadline will not be scheduled for pickup.
