Child development experts are calling on the government to support a “summer of play” to help pupils in England recover from the stress of lockdown. @_NatashaDevon asks: Are extra lessons over summer a good idea? Or should we focus on 'play' for our children to socialize again?

I was always delighted to take my daughter to the theatre when she was little. She later studied drama at Uni. I try to take my grandkids when I can. I am taking granddaughter number 2 to the theatre in Liverpool next month. She is very excited! Kids need to experience the arts.

"Lee Elliot Major, a professor of social mobility at Exeter University, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that about 2 million children did no learning at all during the first lockdown." Really? Their brains just stood still, did they?

Why in 2021 do our children who come into care to be cared for by the state don't automatically receive therapies, therapeutic interventions or mental health support immediately. We need to invest in our children + give them the best opportunities we can for them to move forward.

I get a call. I say yes. I wait. The doorbell goes. An unfamiliar house. They’re subdued, silent, close to tears, wary and watching. Trying desperately to hold it together. My words aren’t wanted. We sit. We drink orange squash. We eat crisps. Crisps are good. x

Good to (virtually) meet NAVSH virtual school heads to talk about the importance of arts & culture for children in care and care leavers. Thanks to @MightyCreatives & Arts Connect, leading the way in this national conversation to build connection, resources & partnerships

Yes! Let’s make this a NAVSH movement to enable all children in care and care leavers to find joy, inspiration and aspiration, through arts and culture. Are you onboard?
