It's hard to predict increases in COVID cases based on a small number of observations (i.e., there will be a high amount of uncertainty in these models). However, it is clear cases (which are underestimated) are trending upward, and interventions are needed.

The Effective Reproduction Number (Rt) is a basic concept that is overlooked. If the Rt is above 1 things are getting worse. The higher the Rt the quicker things get bad. HOWEVER, things can get out of hand even with Rt values just above 1, it just takes a while.

If you know the Science it is very easy to argue against this. 1) Alcohol sales have not decreased due to COVID 2) Increased availability increases harms (worsening the ER and liver cirrhosis crises) 3) Alcohol has a net negative effect on the economy. #mentalhealthishealth
