Warden Kenfig National Nature Reserve do a brilliant job

The area around the car park Warden Kenfig National Nature Reserve was full of life this morning. Highlight obviously a Shrill carder Queen feeding on White Dead-nettle. Lots of Common Carders, and for the Hoverflies, top were Helophilus pendulus and Chrysotoxum cautum. Lesser Whitethroat too

The sickly sweet scent of Japanese Rose (Rosa rugosa) is starting to fill the air at the river mouth, this invasive non-native quickly spreads, crowding our native plants. If you have seen any on Kenfig, send me the location. #flowerfriday #inns Invasive Species Week #INNSweek

Common Kingfisher is predominantly an autumn/winter visitor to Kenfig Pool, so it was a surprise to see this bird a couple of times this week there. Today it perched up right outside the South Pool Hide

Please remember to keep your dog on a lead at Kenfig NNR, help protect our precious wildlife, this Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) nest is close to a main path.
The RED listed bird and its nest is protected, the penalty is an unlimited fine and up to six months in prison, or both!
