I love grading empirical papers, because I see the students' personalities in their writing and formatting choices. It makes me chuckle. I find myself saying a lot of, "Yes, Jane, YES!" and "No, John, why did you do that?"

Doesn't get better than this for undergraduate metrics: "it was probably one of the hardest classes I took concept wise, but extremely rewarding and downright fun." - one of my students via email #EconTwitter

A snapshot of the other things in my life that brought me joy this past week. 1. Lotus Lantern Festival at 삼광사 (Samgwangsa Temple), 2. 해동 용궁사 (Haedong Yonggungsa Temple), 3. 짜장면 (Jjajamyeon), and 4. My favorite spot in Seoul 창덕궁 (Changdeokgung Palace).

And that's a wrap! I had such a wonderful time at the SSN National Convening in DC. It was the most passionate and diverse set of scholars that I have been around in a long time. Scholars Strategy Network (bsky: @scholars.org) #ssnconvening

A former TA just told me that I'm a "young and hip" professor, but she was a MS econ student, so who am I really being compared to 😂

In grad school, I was really confident in asking my department if there was money available to support my travel to conferences. "The worst they can say is no!" As a faculty member, I find it much more difficult to make this ask. I'm not sure what's changed!

I've recently learned that I suffer from Imposter Syndrome, which real talk, I did not think was that big of a problem for me. I thought I dealt with it occasionally, but TURNS OUT it's like actually a consistent issue.

I have a MS Economics student that wants to apply for PhD Economics programs this fall. I'm starting to panic on her behalf. Advice on how to be most helpful to her through this process? #EconTwitter

Do you study *something* related to Urban Economics? Would you want to share your current research with interested undergrads? I'd love to have a few guest speakers for my Urban Economics course this fall. Comment/DM, if interested. PhD students are welcome! #EconTwitter

Whenever students tell me they appreciate my "swift response," the tenure track researcher in me cringes, while the professor in me jumps for joy. #econtwitter #AcademicTwitter

Agree. I've been confused by some of these discussions, because we worried about students cheating on HW, take-home exams, essays, etc. before the ChatGPT era. I know it's *different* now, but we've been battling Google/the internet for years.
