Rent is out of control LA! Los Angeles ACCE members and Keep LA Housed partners rallied outside City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson's Marqueece Harris-Dawson office today and delivered a letter demanding his support for much needed reforms to LA's Rent Stabilization Ordinance (LARSO).

Keep LA Housed Marqueece Harris-Dawson New rent hikes go into effect in Feb., so we need City Council to ACT NOW! KLAH is demanding an updated formula to LARSO, including a 3% rent cap, no floor and an end to "rent banking" to make LARSO less favorable to landlords, more fair to tenants and improve housing stability.

Landlords are attempting to roll back tenant protections and call it a "good deed." pasadenanow.com/main/guest-opi… Pasadena landlords are up to… 🧵

On Jan 11—less than 4 days after the Eaton Fire started—the Pasadena Housing Providers offered to "help" fire victims by exempting themselves from rent control and eviction protections (including relocation assistance).

Ostensibly this was to allow them to offer short term rentals without strings attached. Current regulations provide tenant protections after 30 days, as they should, and no-fault evictions necessitate relocation funds be given to the displaced tenant.

The primarily leader of this effort is Simon Gibbons, A) a plaintiff in a law suit brought by the Calif Apartment Association against the City of Pasadena to overturn tenant protections, (currently on appeal) and B) leading a new PAC (Pasadena Housing Providers) that has been…

…agitating for months to gut the city’s relocation assistance regulations. So you can understand our skepticism when they claim they’re just doing a “good deed,” as claimed by Gibbons in this article. pasadenanow.com/main/guest-opi…

The main thing that would help the whole community of #Altadena and #Pasadena right now, which the City Council could address quickly, is a temporary FREEZE on EVICTIONS AND RENT INCREASES - Op-ed by Ryan Bell 🇵🇸 of Tenants Together pasadenanow.com/main/guest-opi…

We’re back at City Hall with the Keep LA Housed coalition, as well as a number of “Housing Providers” who seem to be heavily impacted by the prospect of not making quite as much money off the backs of poor and working Angelenos as they’re already making.
