He is gone– [ Keats ] died with the most perfect ease–he seemed to go to sleep. On the 23rd, about 4, the approaches of death came on. “Severn-I–lift me up–I am dying–I shall die easy–don’t be frightened–be firm, and thank God it has come!” — Joseph Severn, February 27 1821.

Highly recommend listening to both episodes of “John Keats: Life and After-Life.” The focus on Keats’s consistent vitality in the face of suffering and death is really beautiful. Such a wonderful job by @SashaDugdale and all her contributors! bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

"tell that great poet and noble-hearted man — that we shall all bear his memory in the most precious part of our hearts, and that the world shall bow their heads to it" Leigh Hunt writes to Severn with a message for Keats, thinking him still alive #OTD in 1821. #KS200

Many thanks to Dr Anna Mercer , Mariam Wassif and Amy Wilcockson for such a great conversation the other day. Tune in to hear about, among other things, some new stuff happening over at the KLP as we head into the coming months!

Just had a lovely virtual tour of Keats-Shelley House House, and while browsing the gift shop afterwards, discovered these amazing ceramic cats! My non-ceramic cats (who also joined the tour) are now staring at me, which I assume means they want these ceramic friends #KSAACollecting

John Keats arrived in Rome in mid Nov 1820 and sent his last ever letter on 30 Nov. Listen to this and some of Keats' finest letters read from Keats-Shelley House to celebrate the launch of our latest book, On He Flared by legendary Keatsian Susan Wolfson: bitly.ws/jCNG

Happy #BurnsNight everyone! #OTD in 1759 poet Rabbie Burns was born. John Keats took inspiration from the ‘Bard of Ayrshire’ and wrote ‘On Visiting the Tomb of Burns’: ‘Burns! with honour due I oft have honour’d thee. Great shadow, hide Thy face; I sin against thy native skies.’

#OTD in 1821 Joseph Severn sketched John Keats, who was desperately ill with tuberculosis. The young poet had been in Rome for a little over 2 months. Severn nursed him till the end of his life, becoming his closest companion. Their apartment is now known as Keats-Shelley House House.
