Menhir Le Guellec (No.1) near Locarn in  Brittany - with possible fallen stone next to it. This is easily located on the pathway while walking a route on the Landes de Locarn nature reserve. We searched for stone 2, but it's hidden by gorse and brambles. #StandingStoneSunday

Found an exhibition which may persuade my boys that every holiday isn't just about museums dedicated to flint tools or seeking out neolithic tombs. #MuseumMonday #MuseumVisit at L’Abbaye de Daoulas for Des Samurais Au Kawaii exhibition of Japanese history.

Corn-er-Houët allée couverte, near Mur de Bretagne, similar style to nearby Coët Corecc- both have smallish circular entry which made me think who would have been doing the entering and exiting if these holes are contemporary to the building of the tombs? #TombTuesday

The allée couverte of Coët Correc, Mûr-de-Bretagne. The archway is what remains of a calvary added in 1905 by a local farmer to "christianise" the tomb. These pics show the small circular entry which the Corn-er-Houët tomb about 1km away also features. #TombTuesday

A new analysis of Stonehenge’s Altar Stone published today in Nature shows it is likely to have come from NE Scotland, at least 750km from its current location! We have an exclusive article by Rob Ixer and Peter Turner. Pic:Rob points out the Altar Stone's current location 1/ 🧵

How about a kerbed boulder for #StandingStoneSunday? One of two on Craddock Moor, Cornwall. This one, hidden under turf but with 3 visible surrounding kerb stones is described here: historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-li… . Apart from here and one on Dartmoor are there more anywhere else?

The dolmen de Ty-ar-Boudiged, Brennilis, Finisterre. Also known as the dolmen de la Maison des Fées - many French dolmens are named maison or roche "des fées" or similar - so once seen as magically built by fairies or having magical properties. #TombTuesday

Forgot it's Tuesday. That time in a teacher's summer holiday when the mountain of school work has to be sorted. At least it was a raining.  Three weeks ago I was here at the wonderful, huge allée couverte du Mougau-Bihan near Commana in Brittany. #TombTuesday

Flick through to see a little something I've contributed to St. Cleer parish mag about Caradon Hill's as yet undated enclosure . It's very exciting. Not "hillfort" in the iron age sense but #HillfortsWednesday granitepost.co.uk/Granite%20Post…

What remains of a bronze age hut circle on Craddock Moor area of Bodmin Moor with view towards Tregarrick Tor and Siblyback Lake. Favourite thinking spot. #StandingStoneSunday

Some of the quartzite stones of the An Eured Vein or La Noce de Pierre alignment in Brasparts, Brittany. Folklore tells of a wedding party turned into the stones for ignoring a priest who crossed their path. #StandingStoneSunday
