We made tough but fair decisions to rebuild the foundations of our country. Now, we can look to the future. Our NHS — a neighbourhood health service — ready and available to serve people in their communities, close to their homes.

Our 10 Year Plan will make our NHS fit for the future, through 3 shifts: ➡️ hospital to community ➡️ analogue to digital ➡️ sickness to prevention At the heart, a Neighbourhood Heath Centre - with doctors, nurses, physios, therapists, tests, scans & urgent care under one roof

This was one of the first Sure Start centres — one I was very proud to be involved in before entering politics. Now, we’re making sure all families will have access to this kind of support – rolling out Best Start Family Hubs through our Plan for Change.

A pay rise of 28.9%. The highest pay rise in the entire public sector this year. A genuine commitment to work together on things like rotations, placements, progression. These are NOT the conditions for strike action. I urge the BMA to work with me.

After a 28.9% pay rise thanks to a Labour government, patients and the public will be dismayed that the BMA is choosing to strike - and so am I. I have written to the BMA today reaffirming our preference to work together to improve their working lives and rebuild our NHS.

The Tories crashed the economy. My Labour government is fixing it.

"The heaviest price of all will be paid for by patients." @WesStreeting addresses parliament following the BMA resident doctors committee's decision to announce five days of strikes.

The BMA Resident Doctors Committee still refuses to meet me. After a 28.9% pay rise, they say another 29% is “non-negotiable.” This is not the way a reasonable trade union behaves.
