Congratulations Sandra Johnston, WATS Senior of the Year! An engineer turned to natural resources, Sandra is finishing up the Management and Restoration of Aquatic Ecosystems program. Over the past several years in the QCNR, Sandra has worked at the BLM’s National Aquatic

Monitoring Center with invertebrates and fish diets, as TA for Water Quality and Pollution, and as a research and laboratory technician in Dr. Karin Kettenring’s Wetland Ecology and Restoration Lab, loving every minute. This semester she is also performing her own research

involving phragmites’ tolerance to salinity. This summer she plans to get a head start on her Master’s degree by working for Anabranch Solutions and helping to restore rivers in the west through low-tech processed based restoration. Kudos for the well-earned recognition Sandra.
