Educators are the kind of people that go and go and go and often give until they have nothing left. Doing “whatever it takes for kids” does NOT mean we run over ourselves in the process. Don’t forget to take care of YOU. #LeadershipMinute #AuthenticEDU

As protests happen around the world, I wish to add my voice to the chorus condemning racism. Horizon SD No. 205 tells our students to speak out against acts of bullying & racism. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you are taking the side of the oppressor.” -Desmond Tutu

A colleague shared this video with me. I live it! Thank you, teachers, for all you do! You deserve a pat on the back! This video reminds us of that. facebook.com/epicclassroom/…

Thanks, Tamara! I think fondly of our time together in Special Education working collaboratively on issues of importance to both our boards!

Intentionally cultivating school communities where children feel emotionally safe, cared for, and supported regardless of how they show up at any given moment, will enable learning to happen. It’s rooted in neuroscience. It’s what we know beyond a doubt.

We teach our Ss to always have a Growth Mindset. As educators, we need to remind ourselves that we too NEED a growth mindset to Anti-Racism. Let’s be strong ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 and choose COURAGE over comfort.

Love how intentional, positive, strengths-based, and future directed these questions are. So so important to be thoughtful about the kinds of questions we’re asking students. Being trauma sensitive means being resiliency and strengths focused 😊

Heard a great idea on Friday from an Thames Valley DSB teacher. She is having her own children wear masks if they wish to spend time watching tv in order to help them prepare for wearing a mask at school all day. This could apply to using tablets as well. It’s like interval training!
