#Bratislava played host to the #IMF & #WorldBank Group Constituency meetings today. As a Governor of the Bank, I opened the WB Constituency meeting, where the global economy, the Human Capital Index initative and digital transformation were among the main topics of discussion.

I'm pleased the efficiency of tax collection in #Slovakia is improving. However, we have to be realistic about future prospects as the economy slows down.

According to my Ministry's #InstituteForFinancialPolicy forecast, the best period of the cycle is now over - this year, the total volume of tax collected will decline by EUR 35 mn & the shortfall is set to increase to almost EUR 170 mn and EUR 98mn in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The times of extraordinary revenues are over & now we must very carefully weigh up which government expenditure is really necessary. It's time to save not spend.
