66 new affordable homes are now open in City of New Westminster. 🙌🏾

This is another example of how we can work together to help people, thanks to the vision of @PALVancouver and Vintop - more workers and seniors can now stay in the community they call home.

New building codes means BC can build 18-storey buildings! Building with Mass timber is

🍃Greener.
🏡 Faster
👷🏾‍♀️Safer.

This transformative material gives more options for sustainable construction & expanding our forestry sector. Fantastic work from Ravi Kahlon 🙌

BC again leading the way to allow mass timber technologies to help meet climate commitments and give the forest sector more domestic markets to ease reliance on US.

The BC Conservatives are at it again, this time opposing our legislation aimed at protecting kids and teachers at schools.

They choose harassment over safety—straight out of Trump’s playbook.

Everyone has a right to freedom of speech but scaring or intimidating kids while they’re learning at schools should be, and soon will be, illegal.

These changes will help reduce carbon pollution, support the forestry sector, create jobs, build more homes, and lead to more vibrant communities.

We know mass timber looks great - now we can use it in larger buildings and more types of buildings.

Thrilled to see our Homes for People plan receive a major endorsement from a leading North American housing expert!

It’s clear: BC isn’t just leading Canada in housing solutions, we’re setting the standard across the continent.

BC has now:

✅ Legalized apts near transit

✅ Begun re-legalizing top quality 1-stair floorplans

✅ Legalized fire-resistive mass timber up to 18 stories

All on top of North America's largest fully automated metro.

This is our continent's highest-performing government today

NEW: As of today, British Columbia, Canada becomes the first province/state in North America to allow mass timber buildings (aka “engineered wood”) up to 18 storeys in the building code without special processes (the previous code allowed 12 storeys). Hopefully this spreads fast.

This is a great initiative to spur new demand for value-added BC forest products. We proposed measures to support engineered wood & other high-value wood uses in the 3-union sector strategy for a sustainable, high-value forestry industry. Full report at centreforfuturework.ca/2024/04/04/bui…
