Dominic Cummings is married to the daughter of an aristocrat. He has a six figure government salary. Rt Hon Sir Grant Shapps says their child would not have support in London. Who are they kidding?

Almost the entire Cabinet have made it impossible to retain any respect for them. What a bizarre decision to go with their hopeless, indefensible, ridiculous line.

I am so angry. My sister in law is struggling on her own with two small kids one with SEN having lost her husband (my brother). She lives in the North east. If I had known it was ok to drive 250 miles to go and help her, I would have. But it was made clear it wasn’t ok.

Let’s be clear - at no point was there an “extreme risk to life” to Mr #Cummings, his wife or their child. There would have been a hospitalization if that was the case. However, there is an extreme risk to life during a pandemic, when Government doesn’t support it’s own guidance

We must remember is all of this that while there is a temptation to make Cummings the absolute villain, Boris Johnson and the cabinet are in charge, how they handle this is what matters. Do they care more about us or themselves?

Boris Johnson just insulted every person in this country who has made sacrifices to follow the rules he implemented to save lives in this pandemic.

So here's a Tory MP for Cornwall clarifying the rules on leaving your home to stay elsewhere during lock down. Will she now condemn #cummingsandgoings #CummingsGate

The idea that thinking you might become unwell and can’t look after your child is NOT an exceptional circumstance. It’s a circumstance for hundreds and thousands of families. That’s the point. It tough for everyone, but that’s the only way to reduce spread of the virus #Cummings

Killer fact from that is this. The Cummings/Wakefield family ended up in a hospital in Durham - 260m from home. That is precisely the reason the lockdown told people to stay at home if they get sick. So as not to spread the virus around the country.

It says a lot about the political culture in the UK that the only person who has faced any consequences for Dominic Cummings' actions is a journalist who pointed them out. theguardian.com/media/2020/may…
