Sleep deprivation affects empathy: MRI scans show that after a night of no sleep, people have far less activity in the empathy areas of the brain. Doctors low on sleep have been shown to have less empathy for a patient’s pain and are less likely to prescribe medication.

There is a mental health crisis in the UK, with people waiting for more than a year to access services. 8000 doctors have applied for ~500 posts that train them to become psychiatrists. We have enough doctors wanting to train, the UK just refuses to train them.
