A worrying report from CQC on state of maternity system released today. But the starting point, even in crisis, must always be the rights of women & birthing people to make their own decisions about their maternity care. Read more: ow.ly/Mp3a50PYW7w

How amazing is this carved pumpkin I spotted on the Birthing Unit today?! I'm not sure who the artist is, but whoever they are, they've done an excellent job! 🎃

The work of our maternity team was in the spotlight today as @CNOEngland and Chief Midwife Kate Brintworth visited King’s Mill Hospital. They met midwives, nurses and maternity support workers who showcased various aspects of their fantastic work 🙌🤩

I still have white knuckles from that drive in to work this morning! Saw a very large branch fall in the path of oncoming traffic, narrowly missed a van at speed. Scary. Already dreading the drive home in the dark! Pray for me!

Interesting read...good workplace culture trumps the usual hyped offerings of wellness mixed with resilience of poor conditions. Good workplace cultures create a safe, caring community where people are valued - that makes people want to stay! theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Absolutely loved the creativity of our feeding lead @natboxall and team with the launch of new posters yesterday. Furbies and Fingerlings to demonstrate responsiveness to human connection...inspired! The idea for artwork by maternity staff to express conversations is genius!

Today, a woman who I didn't know, called out to me to say she loved my dress and that I looked beautiful. I replied, "I love your pink hair and happy #InternationalWomensDay !"  We should celebrate each other every day 🫶 #IWD24

“If people find the idea of freebirth worrying, they should focus less on the risks associated with the act, and more on the risks women are trying to avoid.” (As always, freebirth based on active desire and freebirth coerced by circumstance are two distinct things)

The #BirthTraumaInquiry findings show how vital birth partners are in helping women & birthing people advocate. Birth partners aren't visitors. Our 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 shows what actions to take if impacted by 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: bit.ly/partnerres?lat…
