I’m so sickened and disgusted by what I witnessed at CCNY tonite. Students said to me “please, you are a professor, tell them what they did to us.” The smug smirks of men with guns and truncheons feeling big by tackling unarmed 19 yos desperately trying to end a genocide.

Listening to WKCR-FM NY right now and it’s unbelievable, they are reporting live while being repressed by the cops who are being extremely brutal with student protesters, sledgehammers and teargas witnessed. If you’re not able to make it to Columbia campus tune in 📻

In the building where I'm currently blocked in by police, they won't let me out despite showing many of them my NYPD press pass, students chant as more are lead away in zip ties who'd been blocking 'Hinds Hall'

So ashamed of Columbia for doing this. The university administration needs to change course before their actions seriously harm students, in more ways than they already have.

At this hour, the NYPD is massing on barricaded streets outside the gates of Columbia

If any kid is hurt tonight, responsibility will fall on the mayor and univ presidents.

Other leaders and schools have found a safe, de-escalatory path. This is the opposite of leadership and endangers public safety. A nightmare in the making.

I urge the Mayor to reverse course.

Columbia University hired private investigators to pursue pro-Palestine students. Vanderbilt University canceled a divestment vote, then expelled students after they protested. Pomona College sent police officers in riot gear to arrest 20 students.
