In light of recent events in the world at large, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that racism, transphobia, queerphobia, and fatphobia are not exclusive to the offline world. We see a lot of it in fandom, particularly in the cosplay community and in zines as well. (1/5)

We've had a lot of conversations about our experiences as marginalized creators and the animosity we've witnessed in fandom spaces, especially toward character interpretations that aren't "canon"-- especially those of black or fat cosplayers. (2/5)

It's important for fan communities to ask ourselves how we can challenge the systemic biases that can make these spaces hostile to BIPOC, openly LGBT+, Asian, and fat cosplayers. Encourage each other to do better, because we are constantly evolving & still have room to grow. (3/5
