Desperately sad news about the passing of the legendary Prof Conor Gearty LSE Law School - no words here can capture his immense contribution, tireless generosity and human decency. Rest in peace, Conor.

I was trying to write something about Conor's passing, and then realised I couldn't find better words than what Alan says below. A great loss, and my heart goes out to Aoife & all his family.

Encourager-in chief, peerless writer, brilliant speaker and teacher, courageous thinker, funny man from Longford who lived greatly in London, benevolent friend to so many. If there is an ‘eternal reward’ it will hardly match the generosity of Conor Gearty. May he rest in peace.

Staff welcomed a talk today from White Ribbon NI on their vital work, and what we can do to help end violence against women and girls. Our Chief Executive Sinéad Simpson and staff also pledged their support for and signed the White Ribbon Charter.
