One of my final acts as your mayor is to celebrate a new school for our children - the reconstruction of Percy Priest Elementary School. I joined Metro Schools in the commitment to Nashville’s kids, something I know Dr. Battle will continue to do. There’s no better investment.

Deeply saddened by the passing of Charles William Fentress. He cared deeply and contributed significantly to our community. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all, as we mourn together.

Happy to celebrate our $5 million bus grant to WeGo Public Transit to build the new Antioch Transit Center, connecting Antioch to Nashville and surrounding areas!

I’m excited to join John Cooper for yet another investment in our future.

A new Percy Priest Elementary will open in 2025 with a community park coming 1 year later.

700 pre-K - 5th graders will call it home with innovative tools that help teachers succeed in every class.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 - October 15.

We kicked off the celebration on Friday with the Hispanic Chamber. We are a stronger and more vibrant city because of the role the Hispanic community plays in the economy, culture, and social fabric of Nashville.

I stopped by The Nashville Fair’s Ice Cream Social at @fairgroundsnash to spend some time with families. The fair runs through this weekend!

In November, we shared that every Metro Schools HS would receive a new sports field through our partnership w/ @titans + The Foundation for Athletics. Each school received $1m for a field or facilities improvement. We stepped on the new turf field Pearl-Cohn’s 1st home game.

This morning, Deputy Mayor Brenda Haywood and I spent time with volunteers for the National Day of Service and Remembrance - Annual Nashville Meal Pack. Thank you to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee
Belmont University and Meal Of Hope for partnering up for this important work.

We remember those who lost their lives 22 years ago when 412 of your brothers and sisters in service died working to keep their communities safe. We experience the bravery of first responders each day. I stand with you to remember the fallen and to give thanks to those who serve.

Thank you to all of the dedicated Metro Schools faculty, administrators and board, along with all of the enthusiastic students and parents who made yesterday’s celebration of schools at Nissan Stadium so fun and special.

It’s official. Nashville TN & Erbil Kurdistan are sister cites. What an honor to be part of this historic day & to witness the agreement signing by John Cooper & Gov Xoshnaw. I pray this union is blessed. May it be beneficial to all. Thanks to all that made it happen❤️❤️❤️
