IHSA Cross Country Sectional Congrats to Annabella Ramirez, Wojteck Gilarski & Andrew Peterson for qualifying for the IHSA State Finals!

Infinitely proud of this team. This was in so many ways my hardest year of coaching and yet we came within 20 points of a state meet. We did everything we could and that’s all you can do. It took a lot of resilience and trust to get here. Congrats to Wojtek and Andrew!!

Back on Twitter!! 4x8 today fastest we’ve had indoors since 2016. All time personal bests for soph Wojtek Gilarski 2:05, jr Dziugas Meliulis 2:03, freshman Javi Terrell 2:12, and jr Ethan Frankel 2:09. Great work!!

Rainy day, so didn’t really need the sunglasses I found in the school’s Expedition, but they look great, no? Wojtek and Dziugas both ran well at Batavia, 4:39 pr for Wojtek & 2:05 open pr for Dziugas. Thanks Bronco Meeks and Batavia Boys Track BataviaCrossCountry for a great meet!!

Sadly missed our meet because of back spasms but some amazing performances!! In distance, first sub-10 from Wojtek Gilarski in the 3200. Also points from Jose Ortiz in fs 3200, Ethan Frankel in 600, Noah Koehler in fs 600 and Wojtek and Dziugas Meiliulis in 1600, and both 4x8’s

At the f/s level, 2nd place for Brent Tolentino 55, long and triple jump, with a win in the high jump! Nathan Ngoma with a win in the 55 and long jump, with a monster anchor in the 4x4! Alex Galvez 3rd in the shot put!

At the varsity level, All-Conference runner-up finish for Erik Larson in the 55 high hurdles and Karam Tajaddin in the triple jump, and conference champs for 4x200 relay of Larson, Amari Alexander, Karam, and Langston Love. Amari conference champ in 200 and…

I recommend everyone watch the video of heat 12. Every kid in that heat was trying to break 5 for the first time. 196 kids toed the line last night and 159 of them ran PRs. 20 kids broke 5 for the first time in their lives. "Electric" doesn't begin to describe it.

It doesn't get much better than Cross Country at KLM in October. HCXC + TF hosts the 3A regional tomorrow - boys at 9:00, girls at 10:00, followed by Hinsdale South hosting the 2A regional - girls at 11:00, boys at noon. And we'll be back a week later for Sectionals!
