Great coaches are often tough and they coach hard, but they coach with a spirit of excellence and love. Victories on the court are short term. Preparing young people to be successful, good people in life are long term wins. You can’t do that if you coach with a mean spirit.

Parents who allow coaches to degrade their child under the guise of “tough love” are weird. Words Matter! Be careful what you allow others to speak over your child’s life. There is power in the tongue! No nonsense coaching doesn’t have to include degradation! #thinkingoutloud

Shortly after posting this yesterday, my timeline was flooded with R.I.P to a beautiful young girl who took her own life. She always seemed so happy to me. I just want to reinforce how important it is to center girls in conversations w/o silencing them!
