🆕 #CryoSat preprint! ☃️ "First study to consider scattering within the snow and demonstrate the origin of #CryoSat signals" ❄️ on 🌊🧊 simulated with SMRT 🗞️ Meloche et al Environment Canada, feat Dr Mel Sandells Josh King Alessandro Di Bella (@[email protected]) Jerome Bouffard 👉egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/2024…
A novel way to study ice from space ❄️ Researchers fed Copernicus EU #Sentinel3 data into Vision Transformers, a type of neural network that splits an input image - in this case, the optical images from the Sentinel-3 datasets - into a sequence of patches, serialises each one
In the land of ice and snow... ...and volcanoes 🌋🌋🌋 #Cryo2ice is here 🛰️🛰️ Get ready for a week of 🧊 ice sheets and ice shelves 🏔️ mountain glaciers 🌊 oceans ❄️ snow and sea ice 🏞️ inland waters 🔮 & a CRISTAL clear future CryoSat 🤝 ICESat-2 ESA Earth Observation🤝NASA Earth
Some examples are the joint field campaigns in the Arctic to validate our respective ESA's CryoSat mission and ICESat-2 missions, planning around scientific exploitation of MAGIC and NGGM, cooperation on Copernicus EU missions such as CRISTAL.
All green from Centre spatial guyanais and ESA Operations for the launch of the Copernicus EU #Sentinel1 C satellite! We will be watching from here at the launch site. Online streaming on European Space Agency WebTV: esawebtv.esa.int
The first images from the Copernicus EU #Sentinel1 C satellite are here and they confirm the mission's remarkable capabilities. Although its early days, the data already demonstrate how this mission will enhance Copernicus services for the benefit of Europe and beyond.
Big news in the world of ice! On 6 February 2025, the observations of ESA Earth Observation's CryoSat and ARCHIVED - NASA Ice's ICESat-2 satellites will align almost perfectly with each other, providing the best opportunity yet to measure sea ice, snow & polar ocean currents from space 🧊❄️🌊 📽️🎧
The Greenland ice sheet had its first big heatwave of the melt season, darkening the snow from ice crystal rounding. #Sentinel3 ESA Earth Observation
