I’ve been in court to hear this unjust judgement. I was with Ben & Chris on the demonstration & at all times they followed police directions. I hope this judgement is appealed as it stands as an assault on our civil liberties, the right to protest. We will stand in solidarity.

I am appalled by today’s verdict against Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham. In January 2025, we held an entirely peaceful demonstration in support of Palestinian people. At all times, they — and we — followed all police instructions. We ended the demonstration by laying down flowers

Thanks to ⁦Aamna Mohdin⁩ for a fair report of a trial that has been well short of fair. We will be appealing. Prominent UK pro-Palestine activists guilty of breaching protest conditions theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/a…

Proud to have stood with Ben and Chris for so long and I’ll continue to do so Today’s verdict was a travesty of justice. A judge who wouldn’t even give verbal reasons Disrespectful at the very least We must keep fighting to #defendtherighttoprotest

The conviction of Chris Nineham and Ben Jamal will be appealed. But while that happens two more leaders of the anti-war movement, Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament GS Sophie Bolt and StW chair Alex Kenny will face prosecution on charges arising from the same demonstration. Oh the irony… the police have banned our defend the right to protest protest from using any form of amplified sound And that’s under current laws. MPs are over there right now debating further draconian crackdowns on the right to protest!

Juliet Stevenson refuses to be silenced by the absurd police decision to ban us using the sound system! We will not be silenced!

Thank you John and Andy McDonald MP for Middlesbrough & Thornaby East and all the MPs who spoke out in today's debate against this most authoritarian of measures. Key rights and freedoms were won in this country through cumulative disruption protest. The vote may have been lost, but the govt will not silence us.

We joined reps of the Palestinian community in Britain, MPs, artists and community leaders at Scotland Yd this morning to deliver a letter signed by nearly 190 public figures protesting at the Met’s decision to hand the political centre of London to Tommy Robinson on Nakba day.

Protest is not some inconvenience to be managed. It is part of the lifeblood of the labour movement, and of every movement that has ever expanded rights, protections or dignity in this country. From my speech on the Crime & Policing Bill.
