Air temp 10 miles south of Rochester registered 26.2 degrees. Left a soil thermometer buried to see how well the soil buffered the cold: soil temp was 42 degrees. #INwx

Way too early 48 hour post frost evaluation. South of US 50 most of SW Indiana escaped freezing temps but did have frost. Quick review of soybean anatomy and what to look for this week. Pioneer Seeds U.S. #coolbeans Indiana Soybean Alliance

Yes, soybean seed size matters A LOT in determining final soybean yields. Having 500 seeds/lb less can add about 11 bushels/A or 500 seeds/lb more can take about 8 bushels/A on 55.7 Bu/A 3,000 seeds/lb beans. cropwatch.unl.edu/setting-yield-… Pioneer Seeds U.S.

Not very often a hybrid show consistency on droughty soils. P0720 shows ear to ear consistency, ability to hold on to green in the plant, and ability to keep kernel depth.

Tyler and Ryan Hornung have a lot to be proud of this #Harvest20. They broke TWO 100-bushel barrier marks on two separate Pioneer #EnlistE3 varieties on their Indiana acres. Congrats to the Hornung’s! 👉 P35T15E at 107.0 bu/A 👉 P32T26E at 103.4 bu/A

I normally lean towards an R2 fung application when earleaf and next 2 leaves down are clean at VT. This year we have grey leaf spot on earleaf or next leaf down. VT=time to apply. Prioritize corn on corn. Only drawback is less residual to help when southern rust arrives

After three days of Tar Spot scouting across my agronomist area, I would say it’s a pretty clear cut difference where the most risk lies. It’s poised to really take off in the north.

Checking soil moisture irrigated corn Fulton Co Indiana. Probes showing subsoil drier than thought. Corn using .18” day at 1/4-1/2 milkline, need 2.8” of stored subsoil moisture to get to black layer from 1/2 milkline. 1” more inch going on P1108Q Gohn Ag Pioneer Seeds U.S.
