Gr 6 student overheard classmates talking about how they would find the area of this parallelogram by making a rectangle. They were talking about enclosing and subtracting away, but she did this! (“I cut off the triangles and slid them over.”) #learnwithIM

A bit later in algebra 2 students counted the number of male & female bees & expressed as a sequence...next term 12 or 13? They settled on 13 & described it as next term = sum of two before it - then an AHA “it’s just like MATHia” Carnegie Learning value incorrect responses

Awesome things going on at Riverside MS. 6th grade teachers are helping students stay accountable in MATHia by giving goals for progress through their workspaces. Watching a class of 45 6th graders working hard! Pizza party challenge is on!!! #longlivemath Valerie Muller

We are piloting a new curriculum in grades 4 & 5 at my school. One of the teachers just thanked me for "midwifing" the team through the process. She made my day! Math doula is absolutely going on my résumé.

Mrs. April Haynes Kitab Sathi So excited for us to discuss the importance of the math related to horizontal translations of linear functions - new ways to think about the x-intercept. We are building a district-wide PLC around CL lessons - at long last, a common, rigorous 🧵 Carnegie Learning

Ms. Elmore exemplifies the “do the math” theory of action and learning targets. Her anchor charts are the amazing and she referenced the current work w/algebraic expressions to the work in August w/ distributive property in lesson closure #woodmontrising ⁦Carnegie Learning

Oh my - card sorts, sample spaces and systems of equations w/cost, income & break-even point, profit functions. Students wrestling with rigorous mathematics all day long - thank you WMS math folks for opening your classrooms to GATE crew #woodmontrising ⁦Carnegie Learning
