45 years ago today, Blair Peach, a schoolteacher and anti-racist campaigner, died as a result of being hit over the head by police. He, along with thousands of others, was demonstrating against the National Front in Southall. Rest in power.

This week, our UCU members at Northumbria University voted to end the dispute over the threat to make compulsory redundancies. Members have had a mixture of reactions to this, including 'Brilliant!', and 'That's a relief'.
