This is good. Two points: 1. Perhaps Gensumers rather than Prosumers?, and 2. Does this not put the lie to the received wisdom that >6m population cities are more ‘sustainable’ than small towns and villages?

If you want an idea of why removing the £2 bus fare cap may be so damaging beyond polls, read Greg's quote from our focus group. At a time of deep political distrust it's one of few recent examples of a policy people can point to that tangibly improves their lives for the better

If the government raises more money from fuel duty, it should be used to retain the £2 bus fare cap in order to give people in #rural communities a low carbon public transport alternative theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

National Farmers' Union Joe Stanley I’ve feel more concerned by the NFU’s response to the budget announcement, than the IHT announcement itself. Family Farm Tax? WTF? 🤷‍♂️ Surely there’s a more rational and balanced response to ease your members fears than this?

Hill Top Farm (@hilltopfarmgirl) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Just to be slightly political for a moment, the IHT implications are not as bad as first feared, earlier succession planning could get farms passed over to young farmers at an earlier age, along with an increase in overall budget for Defra 1/2

“…socialising the cost of inefficient infrastructure..” aka: making sure nobody is unnecessarily disadvantaged by where they live. The energy market must be managed in order to be fair to rural and urban folk alike. ACRE

I tried to book with Southern website this morning and got stuck in a doomloop that failed to complete the purchase, just repeatedly asked for my details. Resorted to Trainline

What happened to the promised review of UC? There are serious design faults especially affecting people in rural areas where seasonal and multiple part-time work is very common whilst access to Job Centres can be very difficult. Good to see #rural communities identified as a particular concern Transport Committee Rural bus services halved between 2008-2023 so there's an urgent need to review existing provision and consider where innovations can be made to help people reach jobs & services

Very welcome for EFRA Ctte Chair to call for a coherent and consistent policy towards rural communities. This should go well beyond farming to include the way all public policy works in rural areas, especially housing, health, planning and transport ACRE
