Last year I gave evidence to a Lords inquiry on UK regulators. I spoke about how the consumer voice isn't always heard by industry or their regulators. Delighted to see our recommendation taken up on seeing statutory advocates set up in key markets like telco. Lords Industry and Regulators Committee

Really interesting report out today from Lords Industry and Regulators Committee. Great to see evidence from CitizensAdvice taken on board re. the need for a properly funded, independent consumer champion for mobile and broadband. committees.parliament.uk/committee/517/…

This morning’s BBC Breakfast investigation backs up CitizensAdvice research that found people of colour are charged 40% more for car insurance. With such huge, unexplained difference it’s a key test for the new Fernando Castro Consumer Duty to ensure fair treatment bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

So frustrating to see long standing issues for consumers in Oxford. Only half of 1st class post delivered on time in Oxford in the last quarter. At CitizensAdvice we continue to help clients who come to us about delays. People miss bills, benefits decisions, hospital letters etc

Powerful story from Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). At CitizensAdvice we found 1 in 4 were hit by delays in Dec/Jan. 66% of those received no letters for at least one week. People already wait too long for their post, cutting delivery days in half won't fix the issue.

Late post has real consequences - at CitizensAdvice we continue to support clients who've missed bills, benefit decisions and hospital letters because of Royal Mail delays. Brighton was the second hardest hit area last quarter - only 51.5% of 1st class post delivered on time!

Beth Foley from CitizensAdvice talked to Panorama about the serious harm delays cause for our clients⤵️ Late bills, benefit decisions and hospital appointment letters. Royal Mail hasn't delivered for nearly half a decade yet prices have almost doubled📈

I see Royal Mail has another late Friday afternoon announcement: 🔴 1st class stamps now cost almost 100% more than just 5 years ago 📈 🔴 Yet the company has failed to deliver for consumer for nearly half a decade 🔴 4th price hikes in just 2 yrs bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

Delighted to drop in and support CitizensAdvice Address and Collect campaign. ✉️ People experiencing homelessness can often struggle to receive post because they may have no fixed address, which can stop them getting the services and support they most need.

Royal Mail is asking to reduce its deliveries at a time when people are already struggling with late post and an unreliable service. With Ofcom reviewing Royal Mail’s legal requirements, it must prioritise users’ needs - not just the company’s bottom line ⤵️

It was good to talk with the Citizens Advice Oxford team recently about all the amazing work they do supporting local people with specialised advice. We discussed our shared work in supporting people facing the cost-of-living crisis, and holding Royal Mail to account.
