We mourn the untimely passing of Prof. Atanu Jana. Over a decade ago he helped set up a joint lab at Yonsei University (Seoul) with me and Dongho Kim. The picture shows the culmination of a hike in that era. He repeated this task later at Shanghai Univ. He is sorely missed. RIP!

So honored to be feted with a celebratory dinner by Prof. Mei-Xian Wang in Beijing honor of my election as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This was a nomination he led but which was assisted a very strong support team. I’m incredibly grateful! Happy New Year!

After a lovely NACS meeting in NOLA, it is off to Shanghai and Beijing for a week+. It will be cold, but the science I see will surely be “hot”. The friendships equally warm. Happy holidays to all!

Transitioning through HKG and then LAX to AUS after a first post-Covid trip to China. Lovely reunions with former group members and friends, great science discussions and spectacular sightseeing. But mountains and oceans of people. I’m not pulling your leg or stretching the egg!

Off to Wuhan via LAX and Hong Kong. First trip to China post-pandemic. Excited to see former group members, meet old friends and, hopefully, make new ones. Of course, the weather may compete with Texas for “unpleasant”, especially with a typhoon heading towards China.

Heading home after a great JCCC in Tel Aviv. A chance to enjoy friends, a lovely country, great science, and pick up new socks thanks to Denise Mayfield.

Off to Israel for the #Calix2023 meeting in Tel Aviv. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
