I might be a civil servant but I don't think it's against my impartiality clause to say that this is really bloody depressing.

Thank you so much to our speakers Eleni Tsetsekou Giorgi Tabagari and Mamikon Hovsepyan, who set out the importance of continued activism in the face of crises and opposition. Clear that queer communities in the region - and international support for them - will only get stronger.

So weird for the head of US Aid to use this as an opportunity to claim leadership and not even make cursory reference to the responsibility of rich country to the billions of people worldwide who will be without vaccines

Quite recently, the Foreign Secretary approved cancelling programs that educated girls working in child labour in Bangladesh, and another education program focused on homeless girls in Uganda devex.com/news/exclusive…

Decisions about the 2020 aid cuts were made so fast it was "like doing a handbrake turn with an oil tanker" an official told ICAI Depts were given 7 days to prepare proposals for cuts which were reviewed, revised and approved by ministers over 4 meetings totalling 7 hours.

A rare tweet to say a huge thanks to Daria, whose amazing + generous supervision led to this, as well as introducing me to the work of other great scholars like Celine Tan [email protected], Daniela Gabor, Prof. Sarah Bracking and many more. Now back to UK ICF at an interesting time for ODA...

One of the architects of public library destruction, all to save some pennies, exclaiming his 'love' of (and now guiding) public education 🤢

I wonder for how long we’re going to be reading the same (good) points. The $100bn isn’t missed for lack of money, just political will, which doesn’t seem like it’s going to appear in rich countries any time soon

How is private finance is *still* heralded as the main means of responding to the climate *crisis* and it can’t even raise a percentage point when there’s more money in the world available to invest than ever before! The rethinking has been done, it’s time for action.

When the ‘International Financial Architecture’ reform agenda pushes (sometimes rightly) faster and more innovative instruments, deep and critical oversight is a must - as much for DFIs as those us of pushing for their reform). Can’t think of anyone better to do this.

Want to cut 40% of your CO2 emissions? If you bank with Barclays Bank HSBC first direct in 🇬🇧 & lucky enough to have £10k in your account, you can save 2 tonnes+ of CO2 a year by switching to The Co-operative Bank UK Nationwide or Triodos Bank UK (inactive) (avg pp CO2/yr UK=5.2T) via MotherTree

TLDR: 1.5 is hard so stop whinging on about renewables. Japan has untested mini nuclear reactors to sell (which we want the World Bank to derisk pls).
